Up Close and Personal: Adrenalin Interviews Adrian Loman

In addition to his recent induction into the Aurenda team, Adrian has another life outside our office walls that keeps him busier than the ants in our kitchen! Adrian is an Exercise Physiologist and Personal Trainer at Challenge Stadium, where he can be found most mornings and evenings. Adrian also used to be ranked 5th in the world in freestyle skating, and he still keeps his skills refined by inline skating along the coast on most weekends.

How do you find time for your busy schedule?

I guess when health and fitness is your life it just comes with the territory...

What have been your best and worst moments in your career as a freestyle skater?

Best: Placing 5th in the 1994 World Skating Championships held in Italy in front of 15,000 spectators. Worst: Missing the 1993 World Titles in America due to injury...

Is there much difference between freestyle skating and ice skating?

Apart from the skating surface(!), they are almost identical in all aspects... Both disciplines also include speed skating and hockey, which I also competed in.

Is freestyle skating a solo event, or do you skate with a partner?

It can be performed solo or with a partner. I was State and National Champion in both classes for a number of years, but in the last few years of competition, I skated alone.

When did you first take up the sport?

1983.

Aside from skating, what are your other interests in life?

Any activity that tests my physical and mental abilities... At the moment this includes: Snow Boarding, Wake Boarding and Water Skiing, Weight Training, Running, Mountain Biking, etc.

What or whom do you draw on for inspiration?

Anyone who pushes their individual limits and achieves their personal best...
